Re: Sunday 31st March

Hi Poetry, Your post interested me and got me thinking. I have 2 children and 4 step children. All in their 30's now and some with children of their own. They used to be good at providing a loving card on Mothers' Day but this year it was my daughter who phoned. When I was a child it was far less co...

Re: can anyone please help!

Hi newlife,
Through FA meetings I learned to take the focus off the addict and put it back onto me and my recovery.
In this way we all become the same family.
I wish you well in your recovery and hope the 12 steps help to guide you.

Re: Does this never end

Joyce, you are having a hideous time. But it's one that so many of us go through, you are not alone. The reading HELPING which you will find on this site was vital to me in my recovery. Our addicted loved ones know exactly which buttons to press. In 2003 mine told me he had been raped. He said he ha...

Glad to read such positivity. Let's hope that with the higher power of FA we shall all feel more serenity in 2019.

Gratitude

FA has been my rock for over 18 years and I shall be forever grateful. I used to go to 2 meetings a week and started a new meeting about 15 years ago. My addicted loved one began to make healthier choices for himself and created his own successes. He is now 36. However, more importantly I got my lif...

Hi,
Check the page listing FA meetings. That is how I found the strength to help myself. In FA advice is not given, we find our own way to recover. We make choices for us, as we all can do with support from the Fellowship.

Re: New here

Hi Rach1, I understand how you feel and can empathise. If you can find an FA meeting you can manage to go to it will be a wonderful start to your recovery. We have to recover too. The FA way helps us to do this. The Readings are enormously helpful and the book called Today A Better Way is a collecti...

Re: Son is homeless

As with the post above the FA readings are what will give you strength to do the right thing. The book Today a Better Way is invaluable. My son was homeless for quite some time. He had choices. Every day he had choices. They were his choices and he stuck to destructive ones for a long time. Now he h...

Hi,
I joined FA in 2002. I used to live up country Since 2005 I moved back to Cornwall and live near St. Columb.
I started the Egham group in Surrey and did a stint on the Board of FA. If I can be of any help to this new group, please contact me.

Re: Lost abandoned and pain

Dd123,
You are having a tough time.
Are you able to go to FA meetings? That's where our recovery begins. The 12 step program for us gives us a structure to follow. The literature FA offers is wonderful and helps us heal. I wish you well and I'm glad you're part of the FA family.

Re: Very new to this - Would really appreciate some advice

Hi, One of the main aspects of Families Anonymous is that we don't give advice. There are an awful lot of good reasons for this. If you can get to an FA meeting you may find a way forward for you. For me, FA meetings allowed me to follow the programme, listen to others and contribute. There is a mai...
